The most successful ecommerce stores stem from the most creative and fun businesses. Steve Morrissey created Chesty simply to earn an income when his first entrepreneurial effort wasn’t as successful. It quickly turned into a business where the primary goal was simply to bring joy and laughter to customers. Read on to find out how the business has grown since opening in October 2016 and how Bizzy helps Steve connect with customers.

Please tell us a bit about yourself and what you sell at Chesty.

I left an awesome corporate job to chase my dream of becoming an entrepreneur and starting my own business. I immediately failed at the first venture, and started Chesty on the side for fun and to earn some income. Chesty is a goofy company where I can let my goofball personality run free. We sell funny enamel pins and our only goal is to bring a smile to someone’s face.

When did you start selling online? Why?

I launched Chesty online October 31st 2016. Selling online means no overhead or no rent – so we can basically run our business out of a backyard shed.

What are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced in building and running Chesty?

So far the biggest challenges have been building and getting the store up and running, as well as finding the best apps to help us run the store. I have no technical or ecommerce experience so this was all an education via Google and YouTube. Thanks to Bizzy, our email marketing has been one less thing to worry about and it has helped us tremendously.

How do you attract new customers?

We attract new customers using Google, Facebook, and Instagram ads. We also have social media influencers that we reach out to, to show off and market our pins.

Can you share a tip or something interesting you learned in the process of building and running Chesty?

The biggest tip I can give would be to have fun and share the fun with your customers. If you can connect with them through email, social media, in person, or in some fashion and make them smile, it’ll mean they will remember how you made them feel and they’ll hopefully be a repeating customer. We like to use the emails we send with Bizzy to connect, share a joke, and offer an incentive to come by the store.
