Please tell us a bit about yourself and what you sell at goodMix Foods.
Hi, my name is Andrew – I immigrated to the United States from Australia not too long ago. My ecommerce store, goodMix Foods, sells naturopath formulated superfood mixes which have a massive impact on gut health and digestion. They were developed by my younger sister and have been on sale in Australia for several years now. After doing a lot of market research I decided to start production and sales in Vermont, and so far people seem to like it!
When did you start selling online? Why?
I started selling online in February 2016. Selling online was a perfect fit for goodMix because our packages are sturdy and is shelf-stable. I also live in a popular summer vacation and ski area, so visitors can purchase and sample my products here, and then return home to buy online.
What are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced in building and running goodMix Foods?
The single biggest challenge is building brand awareness without a large marketing budget. To counter this, we are constantly out in stores or at markets selling our products and getting goodMix into peoples mouths so they can come to appreciate the benefits. The ongoing everyday problem is where to allocate precious funds in order to try and get the best return.
How do you attract new customers?
Word of mouth, in store demos, farmers markets, and social media have been our top methods of advertising.
Can you share a tip or something interesting you learned in the process of building and running goodMix Foods?
