OutlineTheSky

Please tell us a bit about yourself and what you sell at OutlineTheSky.

We sell premium quality apparel paired with our unique skyline designs to online customers and retailers across 30 cities. OutlineTheSky is the city brand for the people, by the people. The mission of “OTS” is to give you the capability to show the love for your city through multiple product avenues. We use high quality materials, efficient product fulfillment services, and always put the customer first. Based in Dallas, Texas and founded in 2013, our growth is solely focused on you and the cities you love.

When did you get started selling online? Why?

I launched OutlineTheSky in 2013 after seeing too many graphic tee’s that were plain ugly. I wanted to do something for my city (Dallas, TX) and ended up creating the design of the Dallas skyline, then replicating my style 50x over for 50+ cities across the USA. We offer 36 of them online but all of them to any retailers located in one of our designed cities.

What are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced in building and running OutlineTheSky?

Exposure for sure. Conversions are hard to make online, so be happy when people do buy from you…after all you are technically a complete stranger. Luckily we had some celebrities post about us early on, and that helped build a strong foundation people could trust. This led to exposure, media coverage, and, most importantly, sales.

If your product isn’t selling, find out why then decide your next course of action. Also, don’t sweat the small stuff. Sometimes people make you feel like whatever it is they are telling you is the most important thing in the moment, but if you step back, look at it, prioritize it, you will find that is not always the case.

How do you attract new customers?

Social media and Bizzy emails are our primary outlets. We also work on word of mouth marketing campaigns.
