How long have you been working with Shopify and how did you get started developing Shopify sites?
We’ve been working with Shopify for about 2.5 years now. We had just started Q&A Creative and were taking on small projects, but we also weren’t paying ourselves yet so Ritchie had a full-time design position and I had just graduated and was freelancing. One of the companies I was freelancing for hired me to develop a Shopify theme with the knowledge that I had zero experience in Shopify. Since I was excited to work on anything, I took on the project. That project was painful and definitely not my best work, but I really liked using Liquid and the Shopify backend.
Would you describe yourself as a developer, designer or both?
With our company you get the best of both worlds! We have someone who just focuses solely on development and another who focuses on design.
Care to share your favorite recent Shopify Project?
So far, our favorite Shopify project has to be this clothing retailer in Austin, Texas called Still&Sea. We enjoyed this process, not only because the client was easy to work with, but she provided everything in a timely manner and trusted us to doing what we do best.
What is your favorite feature of Shopify/what makes it a platform you like to develop for?
We love the Shopify backend. It’s extremely user-friendly for our clients, which we believe is very important.
What would you say is the most important tip or piece of advice you give your customers launching new Shopify sites?
If you EVER plan to use or think there’s a possibility you’ll use the ‘Carrier Calculated Shipping’ feature, please include weights for your products because it’s not fun adding hundreds or thousands of weights to your product variants once you’ve been up and running for some time.
